A new children’s website was launched recently by West Midlands Police called www.safestreet.info aimed at providing 5 – 10 year olds with:

  • An understanding of the role of police officers and police staff
  • Safety information
  • Health messages
  • Citizenship advice

Some of the key messages on the site are:

  • What is anti-social behaviour and how it affects people
  • The role of police officers
  • Travelling safely
  • Stranger danger
  • Support organisations
  • Fire safety
  • Crime prevention

The site has been designed to provide children, parents and Police officers with an opportunity to discuss safety in a colourful and fun learning environment.

If you are a member of staff working with children or a parent yourself, you may wish to visit the site, which includes quizzes, scenarios and videos for children to learn about becoming a safe and good citizen.
