Sainsburys cash wins children school orchard

Sainsbury’s in Wednesfield has a long history of working in the community, from donating flower to the local churches and allowing local youth groups into the store to pack bags and collect for cause to their annual Trolley Dash run in conjunction with the Wednesfield Rotary club with this years winner making their dash on Fathers Day.

Recently however children at Eastfield Primary School have been given the opportunity to plant their own orchard with a £500.00 donation as part of the stores  community grant scheme.

The children submitted ideas about an apple, plum, pear tree orchard and a climbing frame made from eco friendly materials that caught the judges eyes.

Teacher Trish Simms said “Sainsbury’s have been very  supportive of us and we thank them for that.”

About the Author

I have nearly always lived in Wednesfield, I moved away briefly but missed the sense of community and so swiftly moved back! I honestly believe Wednesfield has more to offer than the residents often give it credit for and wanted to do something to redress the balance of negativity around where we live. Working for a media company using the internet and social media as a marketing tool I had the skills and passion to help set up WV11.co.uk so did!
