Local fundraising results in a Police Property Fund Donation to St John Ambulance

£728 donation made after local ladies fundraising efforts.

Last night Sergeant Simon Causer of Wednesfield Police attended Ashmore Park Community Centre to hand over a cheque for £728 to the Wednesfield division of St John Ambulance. The money was raised through the Police Property Fund.

It came about when local active citizen Irene Dodd of Ashmore Park applied for the money after a chance conversation at the Wednesfield North PACT meeting with Sergeant Causer. Irene who had been raising money for the charity, who attend local events offering first aid and run regular session engaging with young people in the area, by asking for donations locally jumped at the chance when she realised money was available.

The Police Property Act Fund is money made from the sale of stolen goods seized by police. The stolen goods are confiscated from criminals by the courts and, if anything can’t be returned to its original owner, it is sold.

Angela Hall leader of the St John Ambulance in Wednesfield thanked Irene and added “I’m really pleased with this donation we’ll now be able to buy the flags we need for our divisions and with a little more fundraising the better tents we’ve been hoping to get for when we’re out at events”
