Man assaulted on Alfred Squire Road

UPDATE 15th April, 2014: Attacker convicted for Alfred Squire Road assault

We have received reports this morning that a man was assaulted on Alfred Squire Road around 11pm last night (Thurs 18th April).

The man’s injuries are thought to be serious, but not life threatening.

A forensics tent has been erected at the scene and we will post more details as we get them.

Update 20th April, 2013:

DETECTIVES investigating an attack on a 55-year-old man in Wednesfield have made an arrest.

Officers detained a 32-year-old man in a Wednesfield pub last night and he is now in police custody, helping with enquiries.

The arrest follows the discovery of a man unconscious in the street outside Wednesfield Police Station on Thursday night (18 April).

An ambulance was called by police officers who came across the victim on Alfred Squire Road at around 11:10pm.

The victim was taken to hospital with serious head and facial injuries, where he remains in a critical condition this morning.

Detective Sergeant Barbara Dale, from Force CID, said: “After receiving information from the public we last night arrested a man suspected of involvement in this assault.

“The arrested man remains in police custody this morning, and will be questioned later.

“We continue to appeal for anyone who witnessed the assault or who saw anything which may assist our inquiry to contact us as soon as possible.”
