General Election Hustings at St Thomas’ 23rd April

On Thursday 23 April, St Thomas’ Church in Wednesfield High Street will host a hustings, a chance for voters to meet and question the candidates who are seeking their votes on 7 May.

There’ll be a chance to meet candidates informally over coffee from 7pm, and from 7.30pm each candidate will have a chance to explain briefly why they deserve your vote before answering questions. The hustings will end at 9pm.

Everyone is welcome! To submit questions for the candidates, please email hustings@wednesfieldteam.org.uk.

The candidates taking part are
Becky Cooper (Green)
Star Etheridge (UKIP)
Darren Henry (Conservative)
Ian Jenkins (Liberal Democrat)
Emma Reynolds (Labour)

The Rev’d Nick Watson, Rector of Wednesfield, said ‘This election will shape the future of our country for years to come, so it really matters. The way our system works, we vote for people as well as for party manifestos, and there’s no better way to make up our minds than to meet the candidates in person and ask them what they and their parties stand for. Our bishops have called on us all, Church of England or not, to raise the game of politics in this country. This is a small way of helping us all to do that.’
