Man arrested in Wednesfield murder probe

Police have launched a murder investigation after the body of a man was found at an address in Blackwood Avenue, Wednesfield yesterday morning (Sunday 11 October).

Police have launched a murder investigation after the body of a man was found at an address in Blackwood Avenue, Wednesfield yesterday morning (Sunday 11 October).

Officers were called to the address at 5.50am where the body of a 42-year-old man was found.

A post mortem will take place in due course to establish the cause of death.

A 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is helping police with their enquiries.

Detective Inspector Martin Slevin from Force CID, who is leading the investigation, said: “I would appeal for anyone who saw anything suspicious in Blackwood Avenue, Wednesfield, between midnight and 6am to contact me or one of the team.”

Anyone with information that could help the investigation is urged to call detectives at West Midlands Police on 101. Alternatively people can leave information anonymously by calling Crimestoppers the independent charity on 0800 555 111.
