ASHMORE PARK CHOIR INVITES YOU TO CELEBRATE THEIR 40 TH ANNIVERSARY DURING A CELEBRATORY, JUBILEE THEMED CONCERT AT ST THOMAS’ CHURCH WEDNESFIELD.

Founded 40 years ago by its current Director Terry Green, the Ashmore Park Choir continues to go from strength to strength. At 7.30pm on Friday 22nd June, the choir presents a special, anniversary concert that will take a look back over the last 40 years, include plenty of old favourites and the opportunity to join in!

From humble beginnings and just 18 members, the Ashmore Park Choir now boasts 65 singers, a repertoire comprising over 200 pieces and a reputation that is fast growing way beyond Wednesfield. Indeed, they receive regular requests to perform, more than they can respond to in any one year. Each one of their eight or nine annual concerts involves a diverse programme, often including sacred music, ‘songs from the shows’, folk music, spirituals … and always a few surprises!

The choir has also raised thousands of pounds for both national and international charities and this anniversary concert is no different. All money raised on 22nd June will go towards the St Thomas’ Church and Appeal Fund. Speaking about the concert, the Reverend Nick Watson said, “We are privileged to be playing host to the Ashmore Park Choir’s anniversary celebrations. Each time the choir has performed at the church, their music has been wonderfully received and has left the audience with real smiles on their faces. We are also very grateful to the choir for donating proceeds of the concert to our appeal – it is support such as theirs that will enable us to not only preserve our building but to open the old library building as a new Church and Community Centre.”
