The Lichfield Road / Linthouse Lane / Stubby Lane junction improvement scheme in Wednesfield reaches its final phase with the surfacing of two new mini roundabouts beginning on Monday 25 Oct, 2010.

The Lichfield Road / Linthouse Lane / Stubby Lane junction improvement scheme in Wednesfield reaches its final phase with the surfacing of two new mini roundabouts next week (from Monday 25 Oct, 2010).

The resurfacing work has been planned for the half term week when traffic flows are reduced, to minimise disruption and inconvenience. These works will see the completion of the resurfacing of the junction and its opening.

While the resurfacing takes place Lichfield Road will be closed at its junction with Linthouse Lane and Stubby Lane from Monday Oct 25 to Sunday Oct 31.

Extensive traffic diversions will be in place, with different routes for heavy goods vehicles, light vehicles and local traffic. All diversion routes will be signposted. Special arrangements are being made for buses only to allow bus services to follow their normal routes wherever possible.

The main diversion between Wednesfield and Willenhall will be via Lakefield Road, Wednesfield Way, Neachells Lane, Willenhall Road, The Keyway, Armstrong Way, Owen Road, Bilston Lane, Shepwell Green, Crescent Road, Clarke’s Lane, Sandbeds Road, High Road, Straight Road, Coltham Road, Wesley Road, Cannock Road.

Wolverhampton City Council’s head of transportation David Orton said “It has been a very difficult project to construct with a lot of underground services requiring alteration in a tight location.

“Next week’s resurfacing operation will be a critical phase of the project and, even though we have programmed it for half term, it will inevitably cause some inconvenience to road users for which we apologise. Hopefully, road users will balance long term improvements to journey times against any short term inconvenience they may experience. By the end of the week, weather permitting, the new junction should be open to traffic.”

The scheme, which has involved widening the carriageway and the construction of two mini roundabouts at the junction of Lichfield Road with Linthouse Lane and Stubby Lane, has been designed to tackle congestion and road safety issues at the junction.

Remaining minor works and landscaping will continue to take place at the junction over the coming weeks, but this is not expected to significantly disrupt traffic flow.

Community Crusader Irene Dodd has some more information for us – this time it’s about Police Liaison meetings in Ashmore Park. If you want to have your say about crime in the local community or speak to a local bobby, this is the place to do it!

“The next Ashmore Park Police Liaison meetings will be held at the Community Centre on Griffiths Drive, on Tuesday September 22nd and Tuesday November 24th. Meetings begin at 7pm and are open to any resident who lives in the area between Kitchen Lane, Linthouse Lane, Lichfield Rd and the boundary with Walsall.

These meetings give residents an opportunity to find out what is going on their area and, if they wish, to bring to the meeting any concerns they may have. If they want to they can talk privately to a Police officer after the meeting.

Our local “Bobbies” are P.C. Gary Nash and P.C Darren Barfield – they are assisted by P.C.S.O.s Mathew Bailey and Steven Simpson. We are proud of our area and of the very low crime rate that we have.”

Does you local community/estate within WV11 have meetings like this? If so, email us the details and we’ll post them on the site.
