We recently came across this footage filmed at Wednesfield’s state-of-the-art skate park ‘Amos Plaza’.

We’re sure you’ll agree it’s great to see that local youngsters are enjoying themselves and making use of the facilities!

Wednesfield Girls FC U14′s clinch league and cup double!

Wednesfield Girls FC U14′s fantastic performance in the South Staffs Young Women’s League Cup Final resulted in a 4 – 1 victory against Wyrley Pumas on 22nd May, with the team ending the season League and Cup winners for the second year in a row.

The game was played on a red hot day on a bone hard pitch but both teams gave 100% effort and commitment, making it a great advert for womens football. Watch highlights of the match on YouTube here.

Thrills and spills at Wednesfield Aces this weekend

Wednesfield Aces clocked up their first win of the 2010 cycle speedway premier league with a commanding display against Norwich at Ashmore Park this weekend, however events were marred by an injury to Norwich’s Dan Chambers who was taken to hospital by ambulance.

Wednesfield U14 players sign for Port Vale

Two under 14 players from Wednesfield’s team were recently taken on trial. by Port Vale FC, both players Matthew Bartlett & Mathew Warner have now signed contracts with the club.

Wednesfield High pupils take part in Sport Relief

Pupils from Wednesfield High were quoted in a Birmingham Mail article after taking part in a Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile fun run in Birmingham’s Cannon Hill Park this weekend.

Wednesfield High School pupil Danesh Nigah, aged 16, completed the six-mile race with friend Jaspal Singh, aged 15.

“We think it’s a really good cause, when you see the money going to people who are struggling in other countries,” said Danesh. “I’ve raised over £180 so far.

Introducing Lee Matthews Blackbelt Academy

Recently we were contacted by Carl Rowntree, a instructor from Lee Matthews Blackbelt Academy who have recently begun Martial Arts classes in Wednesfield. Here’s what Carl had to say:

I am writing to introduce the Lee Matthews Blackbelt Academy and to let WV11 readers know that we have just opened a new satellite school in Wednesfield at Edward The Elder Primary School on Moat House Lane East. We teach Martial Arts to everyone from the age of 4 years old and currently have 3 different classes running from this school every Tuesday and Friday.

The classes we offer are :

Little Ninjas (4-7yrs), 17:30 – 18:00

Childrens Karate (8-11yrs), 18:00 – 18:45
Adults Kickboxing (12yrs+), 18:45 – 19:30

Ashmore Park Rangers JFC

Last month we introduced the Danesmore Diamonds football club to WV11 readers, this month we’d like to introduce another – Ashmore Park Rangers JFC.

Ashmore Park Rangers JFC started out as the Victory Youth Club back in 2001. In 2002 the under 9′s then became Danesmore Casual Youth before finally forming Ashmore Park Rangers in 2003. In 2004 the club gained a Charter Standard and in 2006 were awarded Charter Standard club of the year and accredited Walsall Council Club Standard Award. In 2009 the club were awarded FA Development Club status, and have hosted APR Soccer 7′s Tournament which have proved to be a great success at Wolverhampton United FC.

APR have now grown into a substantial club with teams entered in at Under 7′s, 8′s, 9′s, 10′s, 11′s, 12′s, 13′s, 14′s, 15′s, 16′s and 17′s. After forming a partnership with with Wolverhampton United the club are now based at the Wolverhampton United Football grounds on Prestwood Road, Wolverhampton. The Rangers regulary train at the grounds and play home matches (in the Walsall and Bilston league) on a well maintained pitch and train week nights at several venues in the local area in the winter.

Football: Ledbury 2 – 5 Wednesfield FC

Match report by Chris Vaughan, Sunday Mercury:

Mitch Fammond was in fine form for Wednesfield, scoring four goals in a 5-2 win at Ledbury.

Stuart Skitt gave Wednesfield the lead with a penalty on 33 minutes before Fammond got his first, two minutes later.

Dorian Colling got a goal back for Ledbury before being sent off on 54 minutes after a penalty area incident.

Fammond made it 3-1 before Ledbury sub David Accam got a goal back.

But two late goals from Fammond completed the win for Wednesfield.
