Wednesfield Northern Soul DJ Max Millward dies

max_millwardWe received the sad news today that  local DJ and music shop owner Max Millward died of a heart attack this weekend.

Max, 67, from Wednesfield was one of the original Soul DJs of the 1960’s Northern Soul movement and was known as DJ Blue Max. He also owned and ran Max Millward’s Records, a popular record shop in Wood End which closed in 2008.

A Facebook Group has been set up in tribute to Max asking for those who knew him to add stories and photos for his family and friends to remember him by.

UPDATE: Funeral service details have now been announced.

As we grew up and music was very central to the process those early years browsing records in the shop, later the soul nights! So sad to hear of your demise. But I do hope that your family can gain great solace from the fact that you were very popular as a person, and a good friend to many. You will be sadly missed across generations.I am glad we met!
