Police Name Victim in Wednesfield Murder Inquiry

DETECTIVES investigating the murder of a Wolverhampton man have today named him as Swaran Singh.

The 54-year-old’s body was found at a house on Neachells Lane on Wednesday 7 November. Initially his death was not considered suspicious and was referred to the coroner, however a post mortem examination confirmed that Mr Singh’s death was believed to be consistent with him having been assaulted and a murder inquiry was launched.

Detective Chief Inspector Wayne Jones, from the Force Criminal Investigation Department, is leading the inquiry. He said: “We still await further tests to confirm exactly how Mr Singh died, however we believed he suffered various injuries that would have been as a result of an assault.

“We urge anyone yet to come forward and speak to police with information that might help our investigation to call us.”

The house where Mr Singh’s body was found remains sealed off whilst forensic enquiries are completed.

A man, aged 42, was arrested on 14 November in connection with Mr Singh’s death. He was questioned on suspicion of murder and was later released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Anyone with information to help the police investigation should call Force CID by dialling 101, or speak to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
