New Cross Hospital seeks support for dementia and children’s wards

New Cross Hospital is seeking support for its dementia and children’s wards.

For the dementia ward we are seeking to buy a bladder scanner. With some 350 dementia patients being cared for each year on the ward, this item of equipment will change patient care significantly. To have a scanner for immediate use will be extremely useful, it will enable the medical staff to determine the amount of urine in a patient, causing no pain or discomfort.

For our childrens ward we need to replace the parental beds. These beds will allow the parents of sick children on our ward to remain with their children overnight thereby relieving the stress of the young patients, and also allowing for instant decisions over treatment if parents are also on hand

Each bed will cost in the region of some £700. However in these difficult times, we would be most grateful for any support whatsoever towards these pieces of equipment. The ward cares for nearly 8000 young patients each year so these beds will be put to constant use.

If you feel you may be able to support our work in any way whatsoever please do contact Robert Jinks on either robert.jinks@nhs.net or call him on 01902 307999 ext 6097.
