Earlier this week we received an anonymous email regarding the rival 559 Bus Service that Diamond Buses have launched between Ashmore Park and Wolverhampton (via Wednesfield).
Bus wars have broken out in Ashmore Park! Since the beginning of May, Diamond Bus has launched a rival service to National Express West Midlands on the 559 route between Ashmore Park and Wolverhampton. The new service runs every 10 minutes throughout the day and evening 7 days a week, with a set of newer single deck vehicles.
This has prompted National Express West Midlands to launch an attempt to kill off the rival service by increasing its own frequency on the route. There is now a combined total of 18 buses an hour during the day, and a bus at least every 7 minutes on evenings and Sundays!
Diamond offer pensioners with passes the chance to travel for just £1 before 0930 instead of the full fare.
National Express have now launched a £2.50 return fare on the route…
This new competition between operators can only be a good thing for local bus users and with 18 buses an hour the route must now be one of the most frequent across the city. National Express West Mids 559 Timetable Diamond Buses 559 Timetable
