Six teenagers were last night arrested in Ashmore Park by police following a robbery shortly after 7pm.

Six teenagers were last night arrested in Ashmore Park by police following a robbery shortly after 7pm.

The robbery occurred in a field near Coppice Farm Way in New Invention when a 17-year-old male was threatened and robbed of his bag, cash and credit cards.

The six lads were arrested in Bargery Road, Ashmore Park. The lads, five aged 15 and one aged 16 from Wednesfield, Ashmore Park, Parkfields and Ettingshall, are all currently in custody.

The victim was not injured during the incident.

A police spokesperson said: “We arrested the group within an hour of the incident nearby in Ashmore Park after the victim had called us straight away and provided us with information.”

Operation serve and protect is currently running across the West Midlands to tackle robbery offences, and prosecute those involved in such crimes. Over 170 people were arrested in the first three weeks of the operation.
