Cake Fest returns to St Thomas’ this weekend!

Following the success of St Thomas’ first Cake Fest last October the tasty event is back!

Following the success of St Thomas’ first Cake Fest last October during which over 500 cakes were sold, munched and shared this tasty event is back!

Get your fill of cakes from 10am – 12 noon on Saturday 14th April or buy cakes to take away after the Sunday morning service on 15th April.

Many members of the St Thomas’ congregation are talented bakers whose creations always go down a storm and it’s these wonderful people who will be contributing cakes for Cake Fest 2.

Everyone is welcome – either pop in for a quick slice or spend the morning working your way through everything that’s on offer!

All money raised by Cake Fest will be put towards the St Thomas’ Church and Centre appeal which will fund essential works to the church building and enable the congregation to open the old library building as a Church and Community Centre.

Whilst the appeal has made amazing progress, raising over£42,000 so far, the church is still a little way off its target.

Talking about Cake Fest, the Reverend Claire Turner said,

“We have been overwhelmed by the support our appeal has received and are extremely grateful to all who have generously contributed their time and money. We hope that both those who know of our work and those that don’t will pop in to Cake Fest – both to enjoy the cake and to find out how we’re already making use of the funds generated.

“All this activity will help us to maintain the much-loved St Thomas’ Church for future generations whilst also developing a new church and community building. The St Thomas’ Centre will not just house church activities but will provide space for other community initiatives and be available for hire.”
