Fire Crews were called to St Albans Primary School in St Albans Close, Ashmore Park shortly before 9pm today after reports of a large fire.

Flames & smoke were seen billowing from the roof of the school and West Midlands Fire Service tweeted saying that 8 fire appliances and a specialist aerial appliance were on site tackling the blaze, the first of which arrived within 5 minutes of reports.

Thick smoke could be seen across Griffiths Drive in the direction of the Ashmore Inn and local residents were asking onlookers to stay away as traffic became congested.

We’ll update this post with any details of a possible school closure as we get details.
