On the 4 and 5 August, 910 The Battle of Wodensfield saw the Anglo Saxons and their allies defeated the Danes of Northumberland on the field of Woden, now modern-day Wednesfield.
This year on Saturday 8th August we can see the battle recreated on the fields of Wednesfield High School.
Professional reenactment company will be attending the Wednesfield History Society’s Battle of Wodensfield Family Fun Day and holding 2 reenactments at 12:30 and 2:30pm.
The fun day – which is free to attend – will run from 11:30am to 4:30pm – and permission allowing will commence with the Vikings marching through the village to the school site at 11:15.
Other attractions on the day include a bouncy castle, Face painting, Community stalls, a football tournament and much more!
