We’ve talked about the Census quite a lot over the past month or so and now the day is upon us, so don’t forget to take part!
We have a census every ten years to provide reliable population statistics to help government, but as well as painting a picture of todayâ€™s society, it gives us a unique, historical record of how things have changed since the census began in 1801.
For thousands of genealogists and amateur family historians, the census is helping to re-trace family connections through the ages.
This year’s Census will be the first that will allow members of the community to fill in their form online – it’s also really the first of the internet age…
On 27th March 2011 the Office for National Statistics will carry out a census to find out more about the people who live in England and Wales and about the make-up of local neighbourhoods.
