Wednesfield’s organic community garden was officially launched on Sunday 9th June after a week of hard work by volunteers, which has transformed the site from an overgrown, derelict site into the beginnings of a community garden.
Volunteers, residents, councillors and gardeners attended the launch event in Lich Avenue, with BBC WM broadcasting live throughout the morning.
Wednesfield High School’s gospel choir and the West Bromwich People’s Orchestra performed a number of songs, including ‘English Country Garden’.
Project coordinator Elliot Lord thanked all of the volunteers and partners who were involved during the week and paid tribute to the community spirit in Wednesfield.
How to get involved
Now the Garden has been launched, organisers are looking for local residents who would like to be involved in the running of the site.
If you’d like to be part of the group that runs the garden, or are interested in spending an hour or two gardening, please email us on info@wv11.co.uk or phone 07855 409 319 and we’ll put you in touch with Elliot.
